About Farhana
I am a third-year student at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in the public health major and a medical humanities minor. I am on a 4+4 medical track with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. I am passionate about teaching because a major part of medicine is patient interaction and patient education. I feel that teaching is a skill and even the smartest person in the room can have difficulty breaking down a concept for another person to understand.
I have been a tutor for Varsity Tutors for more than 2 years teaching math and reading for kids from 2nd grade to college students. I am a tutor on campus where I help students with writing, genetics, and organic chemistry I. I am also a teacher assistant for a freshmen introductory English class. From my experience, I learned that people learn differently such as visually, hands-on, or lecture based. My teaching includes understanding which method best suits students' needs and teaching the material in that manner.
