About Emily
My name is Emily Zhang (she/her). I'm a PhD candidate in Clinical Psychology at The City College of New York, CUNY, and a Columbia University graduate with a BA in Psychology and Economics. My research and clinical work focus on learning and neurodevelopment in children and adolescents, so I bring both an academic and a deeply practical lens to working with students.

I've worked directly with elementary, middle, and high school students tutoring math (algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics) and science (biology and neuroscience) since college and have mentored students through SAT and college preparation, and academic skill-building for several years at a NYC non-profit called Apex For Youth. I also work for Organizational Tutors which focuses on helping students develop strong executive functioning skills that enable them to effectively retain and process information, sustain attention, plan ahead, manage time, organize and keep track of multiple tasks, identify mistakes, and adapt flexibly when challenges arise.
My approach is built on genuine partnership with both the student and the caregiver through a tailored plan build on strengths, progress check-ins, and open communication. I take time to understand each student not just as a learner but also as a person: what motivates them, what they find hard, and what kind of support helps them feel confident rather than overwhelmed. I hope to help students build the confidence, independence, and curiosity.
