About Emma
I am a student , finishing my second year at college , with 16 C-A* GCSES . English was one of my best subjects and I left school with an A* in English Literature. I love to read. I have never given lessons before but I enjoy working with young people so I feel it would be something I would excel at. The only reason I didn't choose English as an A level was I couldn't find 3 other A levels that compliment each other and suit a career path I wanted to go down, so I chose to do a BTEC in Creative Media Production, which does also involve a lot of writing.

I think that the best way to teach is to engage the student. Learning must be fun , in order for the student to want to develop their skills for their own good as oppose to just for the sake of an exam . I hope to help the student realise that rather seeing things as a "boring exam" , some of the stuff they will be learning (depending on the level of education they need ) is actually really cool , and these are skills they will potentially need for life. I would plan the lesson to suit the student , and put weekly plans and goals in place so that the parents and myself can see a real development and progression with the student. I also think that strongly encouraging the student to read , not for the sake of "homework" but as a hobby would be so beneficial , especially at a younger age. I honestly believe reading is food for the brain.

I will be able to refund your lesson if you let me know 24h before the lesson, however if you tell me you're unavailable e.g 1 hour before the lesson begins there will be no refund . I can teach anything up to GCSE level, however I would would like to meet the student before the actual tutoring begins, to discuss with the parents the aims and objectives and what specific areas I can help in. I would also need the student to present all materials given by their school teachers so that I can help to the best of my ability as exam boards differ ( edexcel / AQA) . I would also like to set a target grade so that its clear between the student, parent and myself what grade we are looking to achieve. Any student can achieve the best grade, it all depends on how much you try , and work .
