About Jonathan
Hello, I'm Jonathan Fiore, a dedicated and experienced high school teacher who lives in Diamond Bar, CA. With eight years of teaching expertise and a focus on math education, I have had the privilege of helping students excel through small group instruction and personalized one-on-one tutoring. My passion lies in supporting those who struggle with math, enabling them to develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.
As an engaging, patient, and helpful educator, I pride myself on quickly identifying my students' areas of difficulty and providing targeted support. I possess a unique ability to pinpoint misconceptions and effectively re-teach underlying concepts that may have been misunderstood or mis-taught. Witnessing students overcome their fears of math and embrace the challenge of learning brings me immense joy.
One of my favorite teaching moments was during a summer school class where students had previously experienced academic setbacks. I introduced new concepts, and together, we practiced until they were ready for a 'boss battle'—a challenging problem. Every student had to pass for us to 'level up,' otherwise, we would go back and practice ('grinding'). When the students finally 'beat the final level,' we celebrated with a sense of accomplishment.
I also take pride in my role in helping start a Title-1 charter school, where our team successfully brought students, who faced significant challenges, up to state standards. My commitment to excellence and achievement, coupled with a flexible and collaborative approach, drives my work. I believe in creating an environment that values both success and growth.
I have been recognized for my contributions, including receiving a 'distinction' from the Texas Education Agency for my students' achievements on the STAAR test. Within my school, I have been recognized as one of the most successful math teachers.
In tutoring sessions, I thrive when working with students who have a desire to succeed but are struggling to grasp concepts. I am highly motivated to help my students reach their full potential, ensuring that our sessions are intense, productive, and helpful, while maintaining a supportive and anxiety-free environment.
I am excited about the opportunity to continue making a difference in students' lives, fostering a love for math, and empowering them to become confident individuals. Together, we can conquer any mathematical challenge.
