About Irene

Graduated from the Master of Painting from the UPV. Graduated in Fine Arts with the Academic Excellence Award and the Best Records Award. Collaboration grant focused on teaching with DRAWING Department at the UGR, Granada. Research grant. With extensive experience as a collaborator in university projects focused on teaching and private watercolor classes (2018 -2019). Native language: Spanish. English level C1.

About the lesson

My teaching method starts from drawing as a basis for structuring and understanding the natural elements that we draw inspiration from to create. I follow an academic method of drawing from life to charcoal to deeply understand the discipline, combining this with exercises of free creation and quick and expressive notes that give the person greater ease and spontaneity. In case of having previous experience, the student would go on to exercises in oil painting, watercolor or acrylic (as desired) where we would expand knowledge about color and deepen in chiaroscuro. In this case, both natural and photography will be used, offering the students greater freedom of choice in the subject.

Perfect! Irene is an excellent and committed arts teacher. During our 5-day-stay in Granada, the drawing and painting lessons (two hours every day) in her well equipped arts studio as well as in the Granada Botanical Gardens were the highlight of our trip. Irene is a wonderful teacher who taught and guided me through the beginnings of portraiture painting.

The lessons that I undertook were mainly practicing portrait painting with acrylic. Later on during the lessons I had begun to draw sketches before beginning each grisaille portrait painting. Throughout the lessons, there was always a positive and encouraging atmosphere whenever I was learning at her art studio.

Irene's expertise and knowledge are rich of practical information that have helped me a great amount in my painting journey. I would recommend her classes to anyone interested in painting or drawing. In addition, her communication skills in English is perfect, so in case there are any foreigners who need an bilingual art teacher, Irene is the one.
