About Takumi
Hello! I'm Takumi, a native of Japan, born in Nara (just next to Osaka) and raised in Yokohama, which is close to Tokyo. Because of my upbringing, I am fluent in two distinct Japanese dialects—Kanto and Kansai. Having lived and studied in Japan, I have a deep understanding of the language, customs, and modern trends. I combine this knowledge with my experience as a tutor at a community college, ensuring that every lesson is professional, well-organized, and tailored to your individual needs. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced learner, my goal is to inspire confidence in your ability to use Japanese and help you reach your language goals with clarity and focus. This could include grammar, vocabulary, conversation practice, reading comprehension, or writing exercises. I make sure the lessons are flexible and aligned with your personal learning goals, so you always feel challenged, but never overwhelmed.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my experience teaching at a college level and my deep understanding of both modern and young Japanese culture. Having grown up in Japan and learned English as a second language, I bring a unique perspective that blends both cultures.
