About Maria
Hi, I'm Maria and I'm from Romania. I am passionate about tennis, music and anything that involves maths! :)
I attended an international high school in Bucharest studying Maths (A), Physics (B) and Economics (B) as my A Level subjects. I was accepted to continue my studies in England where I undertook a Bachelors degree in Physics from University of Liverpool. I just graduated this summer with a 2:1. My choice of studies has been driven by my true passion for Maths; I thoroughly enjoy solving numerical problems of any kind and I would like to share my enthusiasm on this platform.

After finishing my A Levels I started working with younger students from my high school by tutoring them for the Pure Mathematics and Mechanics papers. I did this throughout my university years and I enjoyed the experience deeply. I have had good results with my previous students as they achieved As in their examinations. I would like to continue to pursue my passion for teaching younger students and expand my network using this platform.
My approach of tutoring involves asking the student to try to solve the exercise himself, and if they don't know how to start if just give them small hints to push their minds into the direction of the method, using helpful equations or topics. This way they might realise they know how to solve it and they just needed a push to narrow the topic down. If they still struggle with it, I will go through it will them from the beginning, clearly emphasising every step, and I will give them a few similar exercises to build their confidence in that style of question and make sure they understand how to approach it next time.
