About Sofia
As a Chemical Physics PhD with a degree from the Weizmann Institute of Science and experience as a postdoctoral researcher at MIT, I have a unique understanding of the interplay between math, physics, and chemistry. Throughout my 30-year career in academia and industry, I have seen firsthand the importance of a strong math foundation for success in any science-related field, from introductory classes to postgraduate research.
In addition to my professional pursuits, I have always enjoyed teaching and have had the opportunity to serve as an adjunct professor. However, my favorite part of teaching has always been holding office hours and helping students one-on-one to overcome their difficulties and achieve a deeper understanding of the material. I find great satisfaction in those "lightbulb moments" when confusion is replaced with understanding, and concepts start to fall into place.
The COVID-19 pandemic and the shift to homeschooling provided me with the opportunity to apply my passion for teaching at home and refresh my skills in a variety of subjects, including AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, and AP Physics.
I am looking forward to applying my skills and my enthusiasm for math to helping you reaching your goals!
