I like to emphasize the basics and believe that strong fundamentals are the key to building conceptual clarity and depth. I think most students lack the understanding of basic scientific ideas especially in more abstract subjects like chemistry where most concepts are not very intuitive.
I believe stories are very powerful and so I usually delve into the historical details about scientific ideas and the story of the great personalities who had to struggle so hard to get their ideas to light. When students understand the struggle, I think it improves empathy and makes some grand ideas seem pretty human.

My fee becomes 2x if I'll have to travel to the student's location. Also, if the student is very weak in studies and needs extreme hand-holding then my fee goes up by 1.5x.
