About Jakub
Hi! I'm Jakub (pronounced Ya-kub). Day to day, I'm a doctoral researcher funded by the UK Space Agency to discover safer and more environmentally friendly ways of crashing satellites into the Earth's atmosphere. I love being a scientist, which is why I'm very passionate about spreading that excitement to the next generation of scientists and engineers.
What started as helping a few of my mum's friends' children eventually grew into a part-time tutoring practice that has let me support the academic progress of dozens of students from a huge range of backgrounds. I've now taught over 1000 hours of lessons across GCSE and A-Level Maths, Physics, and Chemistry.
That same passion for reaching students wherever they are has also taken me abroad: I volunteer as a teacher in under-resourced schools around the world, most recently at Umong 1 Municipal School in Lamphun, Thailand, and a rural mountain school near Yangshuo, China. Teaching across such different settings has taught me a lot about adapting explanations to how each student thinks and keeping lessons engaging for a diverse set of learners.

I tailor every lesson to the individual student rather than teaching a fixed script, starting with a quick diagnostic to identify gaps before working systematically through the syllabus. Lessons combine clear explanation of underlying concepts with plenty of worked examples and past-paper practice, since exam technique is often as important as the content itself.
Lessons run 50 minutes, with double lessons available (including a short break) for students who prefer longer sessions. I teach Maths, Physics and Chemistry at GCSE and A-Level, for students ranging from those needing to shore up fundamentals to those aiming for top grades. A free initial consultation is available so we can make sure it's the right fit before committing.
Undergraduate and postgraduate lessons are also available with variable pricing depending on the difficulty of the subject. Please enquire for further details.
