About Amy
I am a student due to begin my MA in Creative and Critical Writing at the University of Suffolk in September 2020. I have spent a lot of my adult life working and volunteering in educational settings: I have been a learning support assistant at Suffolk New College, private tutor (GCSE and beyond), and volunteer teaching assistant at Thomas Mills High School. In 2018, I graduated with a 1st class degree in English from the University of Suffolk.

My teaching method usually begins with identifying the end goal for the student (i.e. attaining the desired grade for an exam). Usually, there would also be a conversation regarding the learning style of the student and any additional needs so that I can tailor my lessons to suit the individual student. Following this, I set at least one task (this would be similar to tasks that the student would have completed in their education setting) in order to ascertain their current attainment. From here I identify aspects that the student completes well, and importantly aspects where they can improve. This provides the benchmark for future lessons. I always take into account the National Curriculum and liase with parents and teachers where possible.
