About Cathal
Just to preface, I can travel up to 5KM outside the centre of Galway City, if you would prefer an appointment at your own residence. We can also arrange alternative places to hold sessions if you would like.
I had never given much thought to History as a subject when I was younger. Learning it in primary school was beyond boring for me.
When I entered my first year of secondary school, I became enamoured with it, and I have my Junior Cert History teacher to thank for that. I firmly believe that someone with a passion for their taught subject can instill their love of it onto others, which is something I want to do for my potential students.
I know a lot of people who simply chose History in Leaving Cert because it was a "lesser of evils" for them, and ended up begrudging the subject throughout Senior Cycle.
If you choose me as your tutor, I aim to improve your skills at History by learning to love and appreciate the importance of learning about the past.

I specialize in the periods Ireland (1912-1948) and Europe (1870-1945), though I can still competently assist you in any other parts of the Leaving Certificate History syllabus. My sessions are also offered to adult learners, who want to improve their own knowledge of the subject.
With me as your tutor, you will learn (in 1 hour sessions) how best to prepare for exams by learning how to commit important historical information to memory, and how to be as efficient and as clinical as possible when it comes to the final exam.
You will also learn useful skills with how to best approach the Document Based Questions.
Many students have struggled in the past with regards to the Research Study Report (ie. the pre-submitted essay). I will show you how to make it easy and stress-free for yourself.
