In our lessons, I help you develop a tailored approach to maximise your score. We begin by creating a personalised revision plan that suits your schedule and targets your specific needs. I also assist you in setting a UCAT target score based on the requirements of your preferred universities, ensuring your preparation aligns with your chosen universities.

I can adapt my lessons to focus on the areas you find most challenging, while reinforcing the concepts you’re already confident with. This targeted approach helps you make efficient progress where it’s needed most. By concentrating on your unique strengths and weaknesses, my course ensures you’re well-prepared and confident as you approach the UCAT exam, paving the way for your success in securing a place at your dream medical/dental school.

I also offer lessons for personal statement writing, strategic applications and interviews for both medicine and dentistry.

  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I became interested in dentistry after I completed work experience with my local dentist and was impressed by her knowledge of the subject as well as her endless compassion towards her patients. This inspired me as I had wanted to pursue a career that allowed me to both help people and gave me a strong background in the sciences.
In regards to tutoring, at school I've always loved helping younger pupils with both academics and debate, I was actually recommended to tutor by a friend who said I was very good at explaining things to them!
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

My favourite thing sessions are the personal statement sessions because I get to learn so much about my students - it's always so impressive to see how much they do! I love helping students reflect on their work experience and discuss their motivations for a career in medicine/ dentistry.
My least favourite sessions are our last sessions - it's sad to see a student go but I'm always happy to see them go off and succeed!
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

A role model that really inspired me was my maths teacher. He had such a great passion in the subject that was infectious, inspiring me and the rest of the class! He also made sure to demonstrate the practicalities of the maths we were doing and was able to explain complicated theories into understandable terms.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor is an effective communicator who can make complex topics understandable. Often, students just need a different explanation for a challenging concept to make sense. A skilled tutor adapts their teaching style to ensure the material clicks, helping students gain confidence and a deeper understanding.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

The most valuable lesson I learned in school is the importance of reading from multiple sources and cross-checking facts. During one research project, I relied on a single book, only to discover that it was filled with incorrect information. It took me a whole week to fact-check everything before realising the book was complete rubbish!
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

One difficulty I faced was the anxiety of waiting for decisions to come back. If I could go back in time, I'd tell myself not to worry-I'd already done my best!
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

In my free time, I love reading! Feel free to ask me for book recommendations (both subject related or not)!
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

My biggest strength as a tutor is my commitment to personalised teaching and deep understanding. I adapt my methods to each student's needs, staying updated with the latest resources to provide effective support. My enthusiasm for the subject and ability to build students' confidence make learning engaging and impactful.
