About Rahul D
Hi, I'm Rahul D Ray! I'm a third-year Engineering student at RMIT University, studying under the Future Leaders Scholarship, and I've spent the last two years helping students build real confidence and results in Math and Science.
I've tutored over 650 students in algebra, calculus, geometry and science, including coaching a dedicated VCE Mathematical Methods cohort and helping one university cohort improve their exam pass rate from 72% to 89%. I was promoted to Senior Subject Matter Expert at Toppr for ranking in the top 5% of over 200 mathematics educators, and I've worked as a Teaching Assistant at BITS Pilani, running tutorials and remedial sessions in Linear Algebra and Electrical Machines.
Alongside my teaching, I'm also an active researcher in machine learning, with research experience at MIT, the Australian National University, and CSIR-CEERI, and I've authored papers presented at conferences like ICML and ICLR. I bring this same structured, first-principles thinking into every tutoring session, but always adapted to be clear, simple, and confidence-building for the student in front of me.
I teach students from Grade 4 right through to Grade 12, including VCE, and I love helping students go from feeling anxious about a subject to genuinely enjoying it.

My lessons are structured, practical, and tailored to exactly where each student is at. For younger students (Grade 4-9), I focus on building strong foundations, filling gaps early, and making Maths and Science feel approachable rather than intimidating. For VCE students, we focus heavily on mastering past exam papers, decoding tricky extended-response questions, and building efficient CAS calculator strategies, alongside vital exam time-management skills.
Every session is tailored to the student's individual pace and their specific school's curriculum and SAC requirements. I track progress closely and adjust my approach as we go, so students see steady, measurable improvement rather than generic content delivery.
