About Elizabeth
I graduated from Liberty University with a B.S. in Elementary Education, a minor in Mathematics, and a certification to teach Middle School Math. Not only do I have the knowledge and skills to teach math, but I also love to connect and build relationships with people.
MY SERVICE STANDS OUT BECAUSE I AM BOTH KNOWLEDGEABLE OF THE CONTENT, AND I AM ALSO A PEOPLE PERSON. I love connecting with all kinds of people and seeing the world from their perspectives. This is important because communication is key when trying to teach someone something. Often times, a student doesn't always see math the same way as the teacher, so they don't know how to do it. If they could just see it in a way that they understood, they would get it.
Also, relating math to the REAL WORLD is helpful, and finding out what a student is passionate about is also a way to make math FUN. Most of all, just listening to the student and trying to understand how they see math, makes a world of a difference when asking them questions and guiding them as they are trying to reach a goal.
I have always been very passionate about teaching and relating. I have been helping others understand math since I was in elementary school. Math has always been my strength, and my service stands out because not only is math my strength, but I also love getting to know and working with people.
I love it when students finally understand, or finally know, how to do something! When I was in school, my teachers often had me help the other students. I have always loved making a positive impact on someone, and it is very rewarding to see a person grow, learn, and achieve.
Though I have always enjoyed math, working with children, and teaching others, I didn't realize at first that was what I wanted to do. I used to have a horse, and my goal was to become a horse veterinarian. I quickly realized that though I loved my horse, my passion is not helping animals, but rather, helping people. Once I realized this, I wanted- more than anything- to be a teacher.
I graduated from Liberty University with a B.S. in Elementary Education, a Minor in Mathematics, and a certification to teach Middle School Math. Since then, I have obtained a teaching license in both VA and NC, and I have taught in both states. I tutored K-12 students one summer in NC, and I am currently a 3rd grade teacher in VA. When I was in NC, I also taught 1st and 5th grade for a year (half and half). I have also taught at summer camps at my church for several years.

I usually ask them and their parent/guardian what they would like to work on or understand more of. Sometimes, we will take a short pretest based on their requests to see where they are and to set goals. This will help us make a plan for achieving those goals. Sometimes, students prefer homework help or test prep, and I can do that with them as well.
