About Melissa
I hold a dual degree in Biology and Applied French. I used to teach English and science at all levels for about 3 years. Currently I work as a scientist in a Biotech company. In my spare time, I volunteer to teach and empower kids to go into STEM field. I hope my tutoring experiences are fun and interactive and I believe that everyone can accomplish their goals when they fully understand what they are dealing with :)
I started teaching during the summer of my freshman year in college. I wanted to earn some money while I am away from school so I started teaching elementary school kids English and Math. By junior year of college, I started teaching different levels of Math and English online and am a teaching assistant for multiple Biology courses.
As a Biology major and a scientist who works in a Biotech field, I constantly have to work with Science and Math. I've taken multiple math courses such as Algebra, Calculus and Statistics and science courses such as General Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Physics and their related electives.

When working with a new student, I like to figure out what he/she/they is/are like: their hobbies, which state they're from, what their biggest academic struggles come from, fav/ least favorite subjects etc.. From there, I would plan out different ways that can interact with the student the best so the tutoring process is effective.
I have worked with elementary school students, middle school students, special needs students and post-college FTEs
I was one of the participants of the first ever AI Inauguration event at our company. Each team has to come up with a solidified plan in which we integrate Artificial Intelligence into our workplace and we received very great feedback!

Middle School Level Math/Science: $20 an hour
