About Olivia
I am a 22 year old Immunology Student graduating in July. I am from Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Outside of my studies, I like to play netball competitively. I play for the University's 2nd team. I also like to be outdoors when the weather permits, am a regular church attender, and love dogs. Growing up, I was not the most naturally intelligent person. I was the girl that needed "[subject name] for Dummies" or got the answer last after everyone else did, if at all. This was mostly because I just didn't understand the complicated explanations. But with patient teachers with good communication, lots of practice, and a willingness to try, I managed to achieve A's in my Nat 5, Higher, and Advanced Higher Biology courses. I would love to help others do the same.

Everyone learns in different ways, but at the core of the matter, it is the WAY one communicates information to another person that defines how well they understand it. I would be inclined to first go through content using simple explanations partnered with pictures and easy-to-read diagrams so that individuals can get a full grasp of what is going on. I am also happy to go through past papers, giving the individuals the skills they need to either identify or write down the correct answer (and not just correctly, but in the way the mark scheme demands). I recognise that schools cannot always meet the individual pupil where they are at due to classroom size and other factors. I would strive to ensure each person is seen and understood, so that I can tailor my tutor programme to meet their individual needs through the use of regular notes and active communication. I am committed to helping individuals better understand the subject without the need for fancy and complicated language. I want to help them connect the dots in their head to achieve their full potential in the subject.
