About Ivan
Hello! My name is Ivan. I'm an electronic music producer, DJ, and software engineer. I have been making music in Ableton Live for 12 years, I play out as a DJ with the name V91.
The records that shaped me are experimental electronic music, IDM, like Bjork, Aphex Twin, Crystal Castles, Arca, and the modern techno and house scene.
I hold a B.S. in Information Systems, with strong work in programming, computational mathematics, and systems modeling, and I have spent 12 years as a software engineer. That is the view I bring into the studio: how sound, electronics, software, and instruments fit together.
I use visual simulations I built myself to explain complex theory in music production, so you can see how a sound is made and then put that understanding to work in Ableton Live.

I've been making music in Ableton for 12 years now, been playing as a DJ, and giving online and offline lectures. I come from an engineering background and was always attracted by the technical side of making music - this is my main focus in teaching.
Lately, I produce and play under the name V91.
I find big inspiration from experimental electronic music, IDM, modern techno, and house scene.
I try to combine lectures with practice. First, I explain basics - nature of the sound, sound electronics, music theory, software, and instruments. In explaining complex topics, I use visual simulations to make it easier to digest, so my lectures might be good for someone very much new to music in general. When practicing - we try to reproduce learned skills and knowledge in Ableton.
We work with screen share. I record the lesson and at the end of each class, you keep the recorded version. I also give you a small assignment, which is required to finish by the next class.
You can also bring a goal to your first lesson - a track that you want to make, a music style that you want to repeat - and we follow along our process to fulfill that goal.
For studying you need
- Ableton Live version 11 or higher
- Headphones
- We would also need a controller and a keyboard - but if you don't have it - it's fine - I'll help you find one.
What sets me apart as a tutor
I have been producing in Ableton Live for more than 10 years, and I release electronic music as V91. I have been DJing for five years, including gigs on Pioneer CDJ and DJM hardware, so we can work on finishing a track and playing it out.
I am also a software engineer. That background gives a more technical view of making music. I help you understand the deep technical side of production — a wide range of tools, electronic instruments, and techniques — so you can create high-quality music.
