About Sam

My name is Sam El Din, born and raised in California. I have always been very enthusiastic about music in general, it has always been a form of expression for me since I was a child. People haven't always been there for me but music always has. Also, along with the daily stress that drawns upon us everyday I have realized how music brings no pain, just relief to my life. This has made me realize how dependent I have slowly progressed towards music.

My career began when I had finally been granted an opportunity to work in "Shine On Studio" located in Oakland, California. This has been an amusing experience, collaborating with colleagues that share not only the same interests in general but also share life paths and common struggles to find our workspace within the audio field. This has taught me the musical value people share by working with numerous artists mainly within R&B, Rock, and Hip-Hop genres. I really strived to bring each independent artists creative ideas come to life and have worked closely with each client to make sure that each step of the production was done with the highest satisfaction. I am currently studying towards my bachelors degree in Audio Engineering at SAE institute in Dubai, I am doing this in order to gain a diverse amount of experience to aid me towards my goals and my profession.

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

Music has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. I don't think there was one specific moment when I fell in love with it, it feels like something that has always lived inside me. Over the years, that passion led me to learn guitar, piano, drums, violin, singing, and music production using several DAWs because I never wanted to experience music from just one angle. If I had to choose a favorite instrument, it would be the guitar. Its the first thing i picked up when i was 13. There's something incredibly personal about it...it feels like an extension of my emotions. Whether I'm happy, inspired, lost, or reflective, the guitar always seems to speak the words I can't find myself. More than anything, though, I'm simply in love with music itself. It's one of the few things that can make people feel understood without saying a single word. It's been my escape, my therapy, my teacher, and one of the greatest joys of my life. And im so happy to pass along knowledge in the end of the day :)
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Honestly, not really. My taste in music is all over the place, so I tend to jump between different genres and artists depending on my mood. That said, there are a few artists I never seem to get tired of. I can listen to Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston on repeat and still enjoy every second of it. Their music has a timeless quality, incredible emotion, and a level of artistry that keeps me coming back no matter how many times I've heard the songs.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

The most challenging and rewarding course I could personally teach wouldn't be about scales, chords, or music theory alone. I believe it would be about becoming a complete musician. In this course, students would learn how to truly hear music, not just play it. We would dive deep into rhythm, ear training, improvisation, songwriting, arrangement, performance, and emotional expression mostly. The goal would be to understand why music works, not just how. One of the most difficult parts would be developing the ability to play what you hear in your head. Train the ear to recognize melodies, chords, intervals, and harmonies instantly, then connect that directly to the instrument. This is a skill that can take years to develop, but it completely transforms the way a musician approaches music. We would explore multiple instruments and perspectives. As someone who plays guitar, piano, drums, violin, and sings, I believe every instrument teaches you something unique about music im still learning till this day. Learning to think like a drummer improves your rhythm, thinking like a pianist improves your harmony, and singing develops your phrasing and musical expression. The most important lesson, however, would be finding your own voice. Technique is valuable, but the real magic happens when a musician learns how to communicate emotion and tell a story through sound. By the end of the course, my goal would not entirely be to create perfect musicians, it would be to help students become authentic artists who can express themselves freely and confidently through music.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

That's a difficult question because every instrument has its own challenges, but if I had to choose one, I'd probably say the violin. Unlike instruments with frets or keys, the violin gives you no visual or physical guide for pitch. Every note has to be placed with incredible precision by ear and muscle memory. On top of that, you're constantly controlling intonation, bow pressure, bow speed, tone, vibrato, dynamics, and expression all at the same time. If i would have to place another instrument on second and third place that would be vocals and drums or maybe guitar :D
  • What are your keys to success?

My keys to success are consistency, curiosity, and patience. I show up every day, stay open to learning, and trust the process even when progress feels slow. Small improvements repeated over time lead to big results. Keep making mistakes to learn.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Wow sadly everyone i would love to meet are no longer walking among us. If I could choose three musicians I would pick Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Freddie Mercury. Michael Jackson for his unmatched sense of rhythm, innovation, and the way he turned music into pure movement and emotion. I would want to understand what was happening in his mind when he created something so instantly timeless. Whitney Houston for her voice purely one of the most powerful and emotionally pure instruments ever recorded. I would love to hear her talk about how she connected so deeply to every lyric she sang, and what she felt when she performed. Freddie Mercury for his fearless creativity and theatrical brilliance. He did not just perform songs he built worlds inside them. I would want to ask him how he embraced vulnerability while still commanding the biggest stages in the world. I do think that conversations with all three would be less about fame and more about passion, discipline, and the strange magic that turns human emotion into something unforgettable. Its all love at the end of the day.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

Haha i love this question! During a rehearsal, I was focusing heavily on getting every note technically correct since im somewhat a perfectionis. I was tense, counting everything in my head, basically trying to perform it right. After I finished, the teacher i had at the time was brilliant, he didnt play any instruments but he sure had a heart and ear, he stopped me and didnt say a word. All he said was nice Sam you played it correctly, but I didn’t hear or feel you. That sentence stayed with me till this day. He asked me to play the same piece again but this time to imagine I was telling a story to someone I deeply cared about... like I was speaking without words. I remember feeling almost awkward at first, because I was so used to thinking in terms of accuracy rather than expression. When I played it again, nothing about the notes changed, but everything else did if you know what i mean. I relaxed, the dynamics became natural, and suddenly the music felt alive instead of mechanical mathematics :D After I finished, the teacher just nodded and said, BRAVO! That’s it. Now THAT IS MUSIC!
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

The little touches that make me a Superprof in music are mostly about how I approach each student as an individual, not a template I literally taught over 100 students now in Hungary along with Dubai alltogether and each person has been a different appraoch :D I listen first ...really listen to what they struggle with, what they enjoy, and what kind of sound naturally comes out of them. Then I build the lesson around them, not a fixed syllabus. Music is also energy, everything is energy. I focus on making complex ideas feel simple. Whether it’s rhythm, theory, or technique, I try to translate it into something they can actually hear and feel, not just understand intellectually. I also learned to pay attention to confidence. A lot of progress in music isn’t just skill, it’s removing hesitation. So I create space where mistakes are part of the process, not something to fear. I love seeing mistakes and working on them, I love that happy feeling we both get when they progress even in a weeks time :) And finally, I connect everything back to real music. Even exercises are tied to songs, emotion, and expression, so the student always feels like they’re learning to make music, not just study it. I believe this is why i could be considered a superprof!
