About Chelsea

Writing Tutor & Academic Mentor

With 15+ years of experience in education, curriculum development, and behavioral support, I specialize in helping students—especially those with disabilities, ADHD, or executive dysfunction—navigate writing, studying, and learning with confidence.

My background includes:

-English Major (Writing) and Theatre Major (Playwrighting & Dramaturgy)
-Behavioral Technician and Peer Recovery Support Specialist
-Deep expertise in writing, essays, and college applications
-A passion for empowering students to find their voice
-Working with authors, playwrights and poets to craft their work

What Sets Me Apart:

I combine empathy, confidence, and rigorous training in language to create a tutoring experience that’s both supportive and transformative.

Empathy First: Learning is vulnerable work, and I meet students where they are. I’m skilled at reading when a student needs encouragement, clarity, or a gentle push forward—because progress happens when students feel understood.

Confidence That Comes Through: My training in theatre taught me to think on my feet, communicate clearly, and hold space without intimidation. Playwrighting sharpened my ear for voice, structure, and intention—skills that directly translate into strong writing and revision. My English degree gave me the technical foundation to teach writing with precision, not guesswork.

Results That Speak for Themselves:

-Helped students secure Ivy League acceptances through college applications and personal essays.
-Guided master’s students through dissertation writing, revision, and organization.
-Understand academic standards at every level and translate them into clear, doable steps.
-Work with authors, playwrights and poets to craft their work.

Why Students and Parents Trust Me:

Students feel heard and empowered in my sessions. Parents appreciate my calm, prepared, and honest approach. I don’t just help students write better—I help them believe they can.

Ready to find your voice and build your confidence? Let’s get started!

About the lesson

Lessons with me are structured, warm, and quietly demanding. Students know what we’re working on and why, and they know they won’t be embarrassed for getting it wrong. I use constant, genuine positive reinforcement—not empty praise, but recognition that teaches students what they’re doing right so they can repeat it.

I’m honest about areas for improvement, but never harsh. Feedback is direct, specific, and framed as skill-building, not judgment. Students are encouraged to take risks, try imperfectly, and revise without fear. Failure is treated as part of the work, not a verdict.

The room feels safe because expectations are clear and respect runs both ways. Students leave knowing they’re capable, challenged, and supported—and that learning is something they’re allowed to struggle through without shame.

Perfect! The college admissions process is so overwhelming, but working with Chelsea completely changed the game for me. From our very first session, the entire process felt incredibly collaborative. I was struggling to figure out how to tell my story, but they really stepped up during the ideas and brainstorming stage, helping me pull out unique themes I never would have thought of on my own. They are so patient and act as a phenomenal editor. What I appreciated most is that they never made me change anything I felt strongly about keeping. Instead, they encouraged me to trust my gut, stand behind my voice, and stick up for my writing. They didn't try to rewrite my story; they just guided me to sharpen my structure and make my own words truly shine. I never felt like I was being told what to do, and I came out of the process feeling completely supported and confident in my work!

Chelsea is a natural born teacher, she’s extremely personable and found a way to help connect me to the subject matter at hand. Essay writing and SAT prep were never my strengths but now that I’ve been accepted to college of my choosing I can say other wise. Thank you!

Chelsea genuinely cares about your well-being and success, and will take the time to ensure you’re putting your best foot forward. Chelsea assisted me with grad school application essays and I’m very happy with the results- I was able to get into 90% of the schools I applied to and I believe it’s absolutely due to Chelsea’s help.
