About Cathal
Dia dhaoibh! I’m a native-level Irish speaker who completed my entire Primary and Secondary education through Irish. I recently achieved a H1 in Leaving Certificate Irish, so I know exactly what the examiners are looking for and exactly how stressful the exam can feel. I am not a strict classroom teacher; I am a mentor who wants to help you find your voice. I know that for many students, the Irish exam (especially the Oral) is a source of panic. My goal is to change that. My Approach: I believe that the 40% Oral Exam is your secret weapon. If we can get you confident in speaking, the written marks will follow. My lessons are: Stress-Free: A safe space to make mistakes and practice speaking without judgment. Conversational: We focus on natural flow and "nathanna cainte" (phrases) that sound authentic, not robotic. Simplified: I break down the scary grammar and essay writing into clear, simple steps. Whether you are aiming to pass or pushing for that H1, I will provide the notes, the feedback, and the encouragement you need to succeed.
