About Shannon
Hi, I'm Shannon, a qualified science teacher with a passion for helping students unlock their potential in the sciences.

My journey into education began with my love of science. I studied Biomedical Science at St George's, University of London, before completing a Master's degree in Global Public Health Nutrition at the University of Westminster. I also worked in both NHS and private medical laboratories, gaining first-hand experience of how the sciences are applied in healthcare. I later achieved Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE in Secondary Education, allowing me to combine my scientific knowledge with effective teaching practice.
I've taught in a variety of settings both in the UK and internationally. Most recently, I completed my teacher training while teaching science in a challenging secondary school in South London, supporting students with a wide range of abilities and learning needs. Before that, I taught English in Taiwan and completed a TESOL teaching programme in Indonesia. These experiences helped me develop a flexible, student-centred teaching style that adapts to each learner.
I believe every student can succeed when they're taught in a way that works for them. My aim is to build confidence alongside subject knowledge, helping students understand scientific concepts rather than simply memorising facts. Whether you're aiming to improve your grades, achieve top marks, or prepare for university, I'll tailor lessons to help you reach your goals.

My lessons are designed to help students develop a strong understanding of GCSE Physics while building the confidence needed to succeed in exams.
Every lesson is tailored to the student's individual needs, learning style and exam board (AQA, OCR, Edexcel and others). We'll identify areas for improvement before working through topics using clear explanations, diagrams, worked examples and exam-style questions to strengthen understanding and problem-solving skills.
Alongside mastering the content, we'll focus on exam technique, including applying equations correctly, interpreting command words, solving calculations and understanding exactly what examiners are looking for. I also teach effective revision and memory strategies to help students retain key concepts and approach exams with confidence.
I'm confident that with the right plan, you'll be able to achieve your goals, whether that's securing a pass, achieving a grade 9 or preparing for A-Level physics.
