About Deejay
Hello! My name's Deejay and I am currently a high school drama teacher, teaching both KS3 and KS4 students. I have also been teaching freelance for over 9 years both online and in various stage schools across the UK.
I have both a BA and MA in Musical Theatre, and love to perform myself, but what sparked my interest in teaching was back in university when I ran the Musical Theatre Society, teaching various subjects from Acting, Singing, Acting through Song, Mime, Mask work, Ensemble building and much more as we worked towards refining skills in preparation of the end of year show, which I would fundraise, cast and direct myself. From this, I found a job at a local stage school where I ended up teaching for the last two years of whilst away at university. I then went on to begin 1:1 and group sessions with students and schools in Liverpool, Preston and Manchester. Once the pandemic happened, and the world introduced Online Classes, I took a step back from stage schools and took my business online. What a fantastic change Zoom has made!
I have been back working with Stage Schools since 2022 and am currently a Drama, Musical Theatre and Tiny's teacher at Footlights Sale. Alongside the stage schools, I also teach a Musical Theatre class for BA Academy in Chorlton. I have been teaching LAMDA exams for the past 4 years and I’ll provide focused coaching that aligns with the required syllabus, helping you develop your technical skills and boost your confidence under exam conditions.

These can include areas such as: Audition Prep Monologue Prep Drama School Prep Acting Through Song Singing Voice and the Actor LAMDA Preparations Portfolio Building My approach is to empower the performer by helping them realise they are enough as they are, that they don't need to put on a show! I listen to the needs of each student and recognise their learning style. It’s important to have a friendly, fun & patient environment where the student can ask questions and not be afraid of doing something wrong. I believe it’s very important to enjoy each session and have fun, as long as something has been learned along the way. I have 9 years teaching experience freelance drama and musical theatre classes, recently I've been teaching at a Stage school in Sale for the past year teaching Drama, Stage school, tinys and LAMDA. I also teach a couple after school clubs for KS1 and KS2 students in various locations in Manchester. As well as all this, I have regular students I teach over Zoom and have a few spaces available in the coming months.

Deejay helped me realise that to be a performer it wasn’t about putting on an act. When I was back in college he saved me when it came to the exam season. Not only did he select my exam pieces for me he sacrificed a few hours here and there to make sure I was as ready as I could be for both my exams and my drama school auditions (without charge!!). If it wasn’t for Deejay I definitely wouldn’t have got into GSA and most certainly wouldn’t be at The London School of Musical Theatre now!!!
He’s honestly so fab, I would highly recommend Deejay to everyone looking to refine and enrich their performing skills.
