About Teyima
I am a third-year Actuarial Science student at the University of Cape Town. I have been giving informal lessons to my peers from age 11. My first official lesson was at age 14. My maths teacher had chosen me to help my peers in maths. My services were not remunerated but I enjoyed it.
RECENT EXPERIENCE
May 2019: SkillUp (As a tutor)
• I offered one-on-one lessons on maths to students at first year and high school levels;
• I was responsible for helping them prepare for their May/June Exams while also preparing for my exams.

I like to create a relatively informal environment for my lessons to make the student comfortable with asking me questions
I approach each topic by breaking it down to very little bits to figure out exactly where the student is strong at and building on that single strength in order to bridge the gap between the student's strength and the grade the student wishes to attain.
I base my lessons on trying to help the student answer exam questions confidently, showing the students all possible steps and as many "what if" scenarios as possible in order to make them more comfortable with maths.
My ultimate goal is not only to increase the student's grade but to boost their confidence in mathematics as well. I do this by taking a minute to explain to them the importance of a topic in real-life situations and make them feel that the maths they are doing is significant and is not a waste of time.

High school maths: R170/hour
Undergraduate maths: R190/hour
Discounts:
Total fees for 5 hours:
High school maths: R800/hour
Undergraduate maths: R900/hour
Total fees for 10 hours:
Undergraduate maths: R1500/hour
High school maths: R1700/hour
Travel cost will only be included if the distance from your home (or the tutoring location of your choice) is more than 5km away from 16 Bell Road, Claremont, Cape Town. The cost will be R30 per lesson.
