About Asum
I am a semi-retired Actuary. Over the last 25+ years, I’ve taught a number of students, getting kids better grades than expected and successfully through 11+ exams. I enjoy Maths and teach it. Willing to teach GCSE, A-Level Maths, across various examining boards.
What is an Actuary? (I hear you ask)
It’s someone who has a lucrative career due to their Maths skills. I’ve had a real job and enjoyed my career in the Actuarial field due to my mathematical skills
An actuary is a business professional who uses mathematics, statistics, and financial theory to analyse, quantify, and manage risk, primarily for insurance companies, financial institutions, and pensions. They forecast the financial impact of uncertain future events—such as accidents, natural disasters, or deaths—to help organisations develop strategies, set prices, and ensure long-term stability
An Actuary is someone you’ve probably never heard of there were only 6 universities in the UK that taught this course when I did my degree and Masters. The university I went to was the best in the whole of Europe for the course and second best in the world. Actuaries impact most people's lives, chances are if you have a pension someone like me has

In a recent survey, the Actuarial profession was voted the highest paid least stressful job. You have to be exceptionally intelligent and brilliant at Maths to have a career in this field. I suggest you look up what one gets paid!

My approach to teaching is dynamic and student-centred, adapting to each student’s unique learning needs.
My teaching is tailored to a student’s unique learning needs, making lessons dynamic and student-centred. Lessons are centred on conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills, to ensure students grasp mathematical principles and apply them effectively.
To reinforce learning, I provide practice assignments and a detailed marking scheme, allowing students to assess their progress over the course of time.
I help students gain confidence in their own mathematical ability, even if the academic system has demoralised them. I have helped achieve higher grades than they thought they could and succeed in getting into institutes they thought impossible.
