About Eliza
Hi! I’m a piano tutor with 4 years of teaching experience and a BA in Musicology with a Piano History focus. My specialty is jazz improvisation and comping. I help students achieve expressive harmonic understanding through theory and ear work. Lessons integrate transcription, rhythmic shaping, and advanced chord building. I’ve mentored Early Intermediate musicians through expert performers. Creativity and discipline work together in my classroom. Students learn to trust their inner musician. I approach piano teaching with a focus on creativity, structure, and musical development. Students learn to write melodies, harmonies, and original pieces that reflect their voice. Lessons cover intros, outros, thematic development, and chord progressions. I help students expand motifs into complete musical works. Therapy Seekers are guided to express feelings and tell stories through music. Jazz Pianists learn to take improvisation and craft it into coherent compositions. Ear training is a core part of my method, emphasizing intervals, chord recognition, and pitch accuracy. I also work on rhythm, phrasing, and song arrangement skills. Students receive consistent feedback to refine and strengthen their compositions. Lessons balance technical exercises with imaginative exploration. Every student develops confidence in crafting original pieces. The approach is hands-on, supportive, and goal-oriented. By the end, learners are capable of creating full piano compositions independently. You will leave with the tools and confidence to compose your own musical legacy.
