About Ana
Hello! I’m Ana, an Aerospace Engineering PhD student at the University of Bristol. I completed my Integrated Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering at the same university in June 2024. My academic journey began in Portugal, where I achieved A*A*A*A* in Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Descriptive Geometry during my A-level equivalent education.
Teaching runs in my family—my mother is an A-level Biology and Geology teacher. Inspired by her dedication (and challenged by her to understand how hard her job actually is), I started tutoring Maths to younger students (ages 8 to 14) at my school in 11th grade. I wanted to help them overcome their academic challenges and develop a genuine interest in learning. Since then, my passion for teaching has only grown. I find immense joy in guiding students towards their academic goals and helping them discover their potential. Seeing my students understand complex concepts and gain confidence in their abilities is incredibly rewarding.

Techniques and Teaching Methodology: I believe that every student is unique, and I adapt my lessons to meet each student’s objectives and learning preferences. My approach ranges from detailed, methodology-based lessons to practical, example-driven classes. I aim to help students internalize and truly understand the content, rather than just memorizing techniques and definitions. Tutoring, to me, is about guiding students towards the right learning path and supporting them along the way. After a couple of sessions, we will collaboratively build a plan for our sessions, including the student’s objectives in terms of grades, deadlines, and learning outcomes.
Typical Length of a Lesson: The length of a lesson depends on the student’s needs. For exam preparation, a more intensive Q&A session of 90 minutes may be necessary. However, I usually recommend starting with a 60-minute session to gauge the student’s pace and requirements.
Qualifications and Experience: I have been tutoring both online and in-person since 2019. Over the years, I have successfully guided students from 3rd grade to A-level Further Maths, achieving outstanding success rates. My experience spans a wide range of topics, curriculums, and educational levels, ensuring that I can meet the diverse needs of my students.
