About Toby
I am an Aerospace Engineering student at the University of Southampton with almost three years of experience tutoring GCSE and A-level Maths. I am currently completing an industrial placement as a Formula 1 aerodynamicist, where I apply mathematics and problem-solving skills in a professional engineering environment.
I achieved an A* in A-level Maths and an A in Further Maths, and have received two Dean’s List awards from the University of Southampton for outstanding academic achievement.
I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to make difficult concepts clearer and help students become more confident in their own ability. I am patient, approachable and reliable, and I adapt my explanations to suit how each student learns.
My aim is not only to improve grades, but also to help students develop stronger problem-solving skills and become more independent mathematicians.

I provide personalised online Maths tutoring for GCSE and A-level students, with lessons adapted to each student’s confidence, current level and goals. I have almost three years of tutoring experience and focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind each method, rather than simply memorising steps.
Lessons usually last one hour and combine clear explanations, worked examples and guided exam-style questions. I identify gaps in understanding, break difficult topics into manageable steps and gradually build towards independent problem-solving.
I can support students with general course content, homework, exam preparation and improving exam technique. My aim is to make Maths feel structured and approachable while helping students become more confident, accurate and independent.
