About TJ
I am first and foremost a creator, and I believe that everyone has artistic talent that can flourish with the right encouragement and development. My big picture thinking provides a strong foundation for my creative endeavors and what I impart to my students.
I have been painting for 15 years and sculpting for 12 years. With a minor in Art & Design from UIUC, I confidently synthesize ideas into cohesive projects. As a multimedia artist with a background that spans across 2D and 3D design, my ability to shift perspectives and visualize all aspects of a project is what allows me to communicate effectively with my students.
I have developed expertise over many years as a facilitator, taking a person-centered and strengths-based approach to facilitation and instruction.

I have experience teaching art to youth and adults, and I will tailor my lessons to the age group and individual preference/interest.
I facilitate learning with a step-by-step process that's easy to follow along. I encourage curiosity and questions to explore what type of art speaks to you as the artist. I have years of experience with collaborative problem-solving as a pottery sculpture instructor.
My mission is focused on empowering students to think innovatively and collaboratively by supporting them in shaping their ideas and utilizing design principles to turn them into reality.
