About Cheng
In addition to English, I’ve also studied Japanese and Korean. Through learning different languages, I’ve come to deeply appreciate how culture shapes communication and human connection. This passion for language and culture influences the way I teach Mandarin—focusing not just on vocabulary and grammar, but also on helping students understand the context, tone, and cultural nuances behind the words. I enjoy connecting with people from different backgrounds and creating a positive, respectful learning environment.

As a native Mandarin speaker born and raised in Shanghai with a background in film studies, I bring a creative and engaging approach to language learning. I design each lesson based on the student’s level, interests, and goals—whether it’s conversational practice, pronunciation, cultural understanding, or preparing for tests like HSK.
I incorporate storytelling, visual elements, and real-life examples to make the learning process more immersive and enjoyable. Lessons are typically 50 to 60 minutes long and can be tailored for children, teens, or adults at all levels—from complete beginners to advanced learners.
My goal is to create a relaxed, encouraging environment where students feel confident using Mandarin in practical, meaningful ways.
