About Ashwini
My name is Ashwini, and I am an Australian currently studying law at UCL. Before commencing higher education, my A levels had quite the range- I successfully achieved A*’s in Maths, Economics and Biology.
Like all students, I encountered difficulties when studying for my A Levels, however, I believe I would have been far more at ease if I had someone who I could turn to, privately, who could provide me with guidance and help. Therefore, I want to become a tutor to provide that guidance and help which I lacked.
Having recently completed these subjects, the curriculum is fresh in my mind. I look forward to sharing my notes and methods, which all remain relevant to the current syllabus, with my tutees.

I have only had informal tutoring experience, but I am certain that my tried and tested methods work. I have not only aided GCSE students in their lead-up to exams, but have also helped IB maths students succeed. Each student I taught had different learning styles and paces, yet in each circumstance, I could adapt and share my knowledge successfully.
My style of teaching departs from the usual method of spoon-feeding information to students. I place great emphasis on application of knowledge. I will teach the relevant theory, but will also supplement theory with examples, which the student must complete themselves. My process is as follows.
After the student has learnt the theory, I will then complete an example with them, showing the step-by-step methods for completing a question. Afterwards, I will get them to complete the same example question on their own, and I will only provide assistance when they make a mistake. After following this process for all the theory, depending on their stage of learning, I will then require the student to complete either questions from the textbook, or exam questions (which I can help them source), with me keeping a watchful eye over their working.
Practical experience is key. One can only truly understand a subject if they apply the theory themselves.
