About Julia
I am a 2018 IB Diploma Programme graduate currently studying Economics and Law (Honours) at the University of Queensland. I offer regular OR flexible/one-off tutoring sessions for primary school students (Years 1-6), high school students (Years 7-12), as well as current IB students in Year 11 or 12, and pre-IB diploma students in Year 7, 8, 9 and 10.
I graduated from the Queensland Academy for Health Sciences in 2018, with an ATAR of 98, and am offering my expertise in the general subject areas of:
- English
- Mathematics
- Economics / Business Management
I have a valid Working with Children Blue Card, CPR/First Aid Certification, and I have ample experience in private tutoring since January 2019 as well as experience as a Smith Family Foundation volunteer in the Student2Student Reading Program. Helping with homework, difficult subject work, essay writing, note-taking, study time-management and giving lots of study tips, I'm happy to help!
For IB students specifically: I offer specialised tutoring for IB HL/SL Business Management, SL Language and Literature. I also offer tutoring for TOK and Science Extended Essays.
I have a very succinct and effective formula for writing a TOK Essay, which allowed me to achieve a 10/10 in my mock TOK Essay in 2018.
As for the Extended Essay, I achieved award recognition for my writing and research in my Biology Extended Essay - including a UQ Biochemistry and Molecular Biology bursary award, 2nd Place in the Griffith University Science Competition, a CSIRO Gold CREST Award, and I was also recognized as a 2019 finalist in Australia's most prestigious school science and engineering awards: the BHP Foundation Science and Engineering Awards.

My lessons are generally geared at anyone between Years 1-12, who is looking for a succinct and supportive tutor to help with homework, assignments and Maths/English/Business/Economics topics difficult to grasp.
I'm also an IB alumna, so I'm happy to help all you awesome IB students with anything from Extended Essay planning and TOK, to IAs and IB content mastering!
I am a huge believer in the modern Socratic method of teaching!
Firstly, I teach my students the basic theory of a topic, showing a practical application on paper, then ask my students to explain HOW to solve a particular question in their own words - the practical application of questions by students is the final step to mastering! I ask questions all throughout the teaching process to check my students are actually becoming masters, not just sponges of information!
