About David
I am an older gentelman and have retired from 30 years of delivering mail for the US Postal Service. Our family operates a farm raising beef cattle in the state of Maine. My wife and I have raised 7 children and now we have 17 grandchildren.
I learned Portuguese because I have spent time in Brazil for the past 20 years. I went to the Amazon for about 2 weeks each year. I have made some good friends there and I know how difficult it can be to learn a second language.
I know it is important to speak slowly and clearly when someone is learning.
I spent this past summer teaching English to newly arrived immigrants. I try to be sensitive and patient with my students.

At our first meeting I will take a little time to get to know you. I'll ask some questions about how you have been learning English and by talking with you I can assess how well you know the language already. We will work on pronunciation and vocabulary. As I get to know you it will become clear what types of things you are interested in and we can build the lessons around those topics. I am more interested in pronunciation and vocabulary than grammar. My goal is to help you be able to understand English and pronounce it well so that other English speakers will understand you.
