About Derek
I have a Master's degree in analytical chemistry and have been tutoring high school level maths as well as first year calculus for over ten years. I have had experience teaching both gifted students, looking to get ahead, as well as those struggling and looking to simply pass the course.

My tutoring sessions are tailored towards how the student best learns, utilizing visual aids and pictures. I aim to help my students understand the maths behind what is taught in school rather than simply memorizing methods. I encourage my high school students to not use calculators as this best prepares them for university where calculators are often not permitted.
I specialize in all high school level maths from grade 10-12 including pre-calculus as well as single variable calculus (first year university). I provide students with additional resources and electronic copies of our session notes.
