About Joseph
I am a high-achieving student of history currently in Year 13. I achieved a Grade 9 at GCSE, am predicted an A* at A-Level, and currently hold offers to study history at the Universities of Durham, Manchester and Leeds. Throughout my school career I have constantly helped my classmates refine their exam technique and achieve better results and I believe that the time is now for me to draw on all of these experiences to help a wider number of people achieve the results they deserve.

From my experience as a student of GCSE and A-Level history, the key to success lies in perfecting exam technique. As someone who has only recently sat GCSE exams, and has experience taking A-Level exams under time pressure, I know very well what is required of a student in an exam, but also how it actually feels to sit these exams under time pressure. It is all well and good learning large amounts of content, but this cannot be converted into tangible results without nailing exam technique. My lessons are therefore focused on helping students apply the knowledge that they already have to an exam situation. I am able to use my multiple years of essay writing experience to help students write answers specifically tailored to the exam board mark scheme, allowing them to leave the exam hall confident that they have achieved the best results that they can. I also find it helpful to teach the content of the course through looking at wider overarching themes, which, in my experience better helps students retain information and apply it to an exam essay. Lessons last roughly 60 minutes.
