About Duncan
I having been singing at a professional level for 9 years now, with solo roles in performances at the Royal Opera House, Barbican, Queen Elizabeth Hall, and Royal Festival Hall.
I have professional experience in many genres including choral, classical, accapella, jazz (crooning) , and opera, through singing in a variety of roles and vocal groups.
I am currently in my second year of a Choral Scholarship to St Andrews as a Tenor.
I also play Saxophone, Piano, and Drums, and studied Music at GCSE and A level (reading Classics at St As).

My teaching maintains a healthy balance between leading by example, and leaving room for your learning and growth. First we will choose pieces together that are the best fit for you, based on difficulty, genre, and what you enjoy most! Then I'll take you through the process of learning a song, whilst refining your technique and sound along the way, and finally we will focus in on performance details such as expression and dynamics.
For more advanced students (especially those looking to apply for Choral Scholarships) we will also work on sight reading, with a quicker turnover of repertoire to build up a performance-ready portfolio - something every singer can aim to compile.
+ Tutoring for all singing ABRSM and Trinity Grade Exams including Aural and Sight-Reading sections.
+ Tutoring Saxophone for all ABRSM/Trinity Jazz Grades.
+ Tutoring specifically in Music Theory, or for GCSE Music.
As a young person, taking lessons from an older singer can be a frustrating process. When trying to improve your own sound, I've found it much more helpful to have a younger teacher whose vocal timbre is closer to your own, making it easier to develop your own sound from what you can hear - aural learning.
