About Barnabas
I am a student studying Advanced Science at the ANU. I have a strong background in the sciences having received a band 6 in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Earth and Environmental Science. I have three younger siblings back at home so I am well practised with interacting with younger people! I have held various odd tutoring jobs including tutoring a year ten student in mathematics.

Understanding rather than memorising. By understanding a concept, the mind ends up remembering the points and the concept is more easily applied to other relevant concepts later on. It is also important to build a safe and friendly atmosphere between the tutor and student so that the student feels comfortable in making mistakes which we can build on, and so that the student develops an interest in the subject. Furthermore I would offer support outside of learning, for example study skills and stress management if relevant and needed.

I first met Barnabas at university while studying my undergrad degree. His passion for biology stood out to me, as did his impressive knowledge of the field. I found him to be an excellent teacher, good at explaining things clearly and always very helpful.
