About Jake
Growing up in Albuquerque, NM, I decided to come to BYU where I am currently a senior studying applied mathematics. I am currently unsure as to what I want to do with my life after graduation, but one option that I am seriously considering is teaching high school given my love teaching.

Math is a beautiful thing, but not when it's taught incorrectly. Many instructors teach the 'what' of math (the formulas, the methods), but I believe in teaching the 'why' and letting the 'what' follow.
I've found that showing students the motivation behind the math they're learning in school inspires a deeper understand and appreciation for the subject which in turn boosts performance in the classroom.
