About Tony
Hello, I am a graduate from Henderson State University that has a passion for music, and helping beginners learn how to play gospel music. I've been playing piano actively in church for 12 years. Whether you're brand new to piano or just want to understand chords, flow, and want to play by ear, I've got you. I remember what it was like starting out. My goal is to make learning simple, fun, and connected to the real music you hear in church every Sunday. I'm big on helping my students grow.

Teaching Methods & Techniques:
My teaching style is hands-on, patient, and built around the real sound of gospel music. I focus on helping beginners feel comfortable with the keys, learn basic chords, and start playing songs early on. I break down gospel elements like progressions, voicings, and rhythm in a way that’s easy to understand — even if you’ve never played before.
I use a mix of:
Ear training (learning to play what you hear)
Chord-based teaching instead of traditional note-reading
Simple praise & worship songs to apply what you learn
Improvisation basics to help you flow naturally during songs
Typical Lesson Plan:
Warm-up (keyboard familiarity or reviewing simple scales/chords)
Learn a new chord or progression (like the 1-4-5 or 6-2-5-1)
Apply it to a short song or worship phrase
Ear training or call-and-response (you play back what I demonstrate)
Practice flowing between sections smoothly (intro, verse, vamp, etc.)
Quick wrap-up with goals for next time
Each lesson is tailored to where you are — no pressure, just progress.
