In the 21st century, teaching skills are evolving rapidly. Educators now integrate digital technology, collaborative projects, and critical thinking exercises into their classrooms. They encourage creativity and problem-solving while fostering global awareness. Innovative teachers create dynamic, interactive learning environments that empower students with digital literacy, adaptability, and communication skills, preparing them for a future of continuous change in every classroom. I reviewed current educational trends and 21st century skills frameworks to craft this note, ensuring it reflects the integration of technology, creativity, and critical thinking in modern teaching.

  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I first developed an interest in teaching in 1998 while pursuing my Bachelor’s degree. During that time, I began tutoring students in science and mathematics, and I quickly realized how much I enjoyed helping learners understand difficult concepts. Teaching became more than just sharing knowledge—it was about inspiring curiosity and building confidence. Over the years, I have embraced 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, digital literacy, and creativity to make my lessons engaging and relevant. Private tutoring allows me to personalize instruction, use technology effectively, and empower students to succeed in an ever-changing world of learning.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach Mathematics and Science, with a strong passion for Physics, for students in grades 6–12. I enjoy guiding learners through topics such as motion, forces, energy, electricity, and the fascinating laws of physics that explain how the world works. In mathematics, I particularly like algebra, geometry, and problem-solving strategies that build logical thinking. I also enjoy discussing real-life applications of math and science, as they help students see the value of what they are learning. While some areas like rote memorization of formulas may feel less exciting, I focus on making them easier and more meaningful through practice and visualization.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, I was fortunate to have several role models during my school years who inspired me to choose teaching as my lifelong passion. My English teacher, Murali Sir, my Mathematics teacher, Chiranjeevi Sir, and my Physics teacher, Satyanarayana Sir, all had a remarkable impact on me. Each of them was dedicated, disciplined, and deeply passionate about their subject. They were not only excellent in teaching but also role models of character and perseverance. During my time from grade 6 to 10, they each received the “Best Teacher Award” multiple times—four times in fact—which left a lasting impression on me. I was influenced not only by their knowledge but also by the power of their words, encouragement, and ability to shape students’ futures. Their achievements showed me the respect and fulfillment a teacher can earn through dedication, and that inspiration continues to guide my journey as an educator today.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

I believe the most important quality of a good tutor is the ability to understand a problem from the student’s point of view. Anyone can teach content, but a true teacher focuses on how the student actually learns and processes information. Every learner is unique, and sometimes traditional explanations do not work for everyone. A good tutor must be patient, empathetic, and flexible in their approach, adapting methods to match the student’s style. It also requires strong communication, breaking down complex ideas into simple, relatable steps so that learning feels easy and enjoyable. Encouragement and motivation are equally important—students should feel confident that mistakes are part of growth, not failure. Finally, a good tutor uses creativity and modern tools to engage learners, making concepts meaningful rather than mechanical. When you teach in a way that connects with the student, real understanding and long-term success follow.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One of the most rewarding moments in my teaching career came from recognition for my dedication to science education. Over the years, I have received multiple awards for my teaching, but guiding my students to success in a district-level science project stands out. Last year, the project I mentored was honored for its creativity and practical application, earning a cash prize from the county office.

What made this achievement truly meaningful was the appreciation from both parents and colleagues. Parents praised the way I encouraged students to think critically and apply classroom concepts to real-world problems, while my principal celebrated alongside us, acknowledging the project’s impact.

This experience reinforced my belief that teaching goes beyond delivering lessons; it is about inspiring curiosity, fostering problem-solving skills, and helping students realize their potential. Recognition at the district level validated my approach of combining hands-on learning with innovative teaching methods, motivating me to continue creating meaningful, engaging learning experiences for every student I work with.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

One of the main challenges I have faced in teaching Mathematics and Science is the wide range of student learning levels. Some students struggle to reach expected benchmarks, often due to difficulty concentrating or gaps in foundational knowledge. The COVID-19 pandemic further intensified this challenge, as remote learning over the past three years disrupted classroom interaction, limited hands-on experiences, and created inconsistencies in understanding.

To overcome these difficulties, I focus on personalized instruction, interactive lessons, and practical examples that make abstract concepts easier to grasp. I encourage questions, reinforce core principles, and cultivate effective study habits, helping students build both confidence and competence. While challenges remain, this approach has proven effective in gradually bringing learners up to standard and maintaining their engagement, demonstrating that patience, adaptability, and creativity are essential qualities in addressing learning gaps.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Yes, I definitely have a passion, and it lies in teaching and inspiring young minds. For me, teaching is not just about delivering lessons—it is about guiding students to think critically, interpret knowledge, and apply it in ways that help them grow. I want my students to understand concepts deeply and be able to explain them to others, just as I once admired a teacher who inspired me in multiple ways. That teacher not only taught subjects but also influenced my life, shaping the way I approach challenges, discipline, and personal growth.

My passion for teaching goes beyond academic success; it is about making a meaningful impact on students’ lives. I believe that if I can positively influence a student’s mindset or help them take the right path, that impact lasts far longer than any material reward. Money and recognition come and go, but the opportunity to change a student’s perspective is enduring and priceless. When a student remembers the lessons you taught, not just in the classroom but in life, you know your work as a teacher has been truly successful.

I also strive to make the world a little more beautiful, as much as I can, through education. Every lesson, every encouragement, and every moment of patience contributes to shaping responsible, curious, and confident individuals. This belief fuels my dedication and motivates me to innovate, adapt, and give my best every day. Teaching, for me, is not just a profession—it is a lifelong mission to create positive change, one student at a time.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?

What makes me a Superprof goes far beyond answering interview questions! I am deeply inspired by teaching and driven by a desire to reach as many students as possible, no matter the nook or corner of the world. I believe every student has untapped potential, and my mission is to guide them toward understanding, confidence, and success in Mathematics and Science.

My strength lies in connecting with students at their level, understanding their unique learning styles, and simplifying complex concepts so they become engaging and meaningful. I don’t just teach; I inspire curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and empower students to apply their knowledge in real life. Seeing a student grasp a challenging concept, gain confidence, or discover a new interest is the ultimate reward.

I also embrace modern teaching strategies and 21st-century skills, using technology, interactive methods, and creative problem-solving to make learning both effective and fun. My passion, patience, and commitment ensure that every student feels supported, motivated, and capable of achieving their best. That combination of dedication, inspiration, and innovation is what makes me a true Superprof.
