About Layla
Hi, I’m Layla! I’m an Art Education student with a strong background in creative work, design, and hands-on learning. I’ve spent years developing my skills not only as an artist, but as someone who can clearly explain concepts and support others as they learn. My experience working with children in a classroom setting has helped me build patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills.
I pride myself on being reliable, encouraging, and easy to work with. I create a calm, judgment-free space where students feel comfortable asking questions and trying new things. My approach as a tutor is supportive, adaptable, and focused on building both confidence and foundational skills. As an Art Education student with a background in hands-on creative work, I understand that every learner processes information differently, so I tailor each session to the student’s pace, goals, and learning style. I focus on breaking down complex concepts—like composition, color theory, or design principles—into simple, approachable steps while encouraging creativity and self-expression.
A typical lesson begins with a quick check-in and review, followed by a guided demonstration or concept (for example, shading techniques, layout structure, or color relationships). From there, students practice with my support, and we close with feedback and a few clear takeaways to build consistency between sessions. I also like to incorporate real-world applications, whether that’s helping with school assignments, portfolio pieces, or creative projects.
What sets me apart is my ability to meet students where they’re at—whether they’re complete beginners, younger learners, or students preparing for more advanced coursework. My experience working with children, combined with my design and art training, allows me to create a calm, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and growing their skills over time.
My lessons are ideal for elementary through high school students, beginners exploring art for the first time, or anyone looking to strengthen their drawing, design, and visual communication skills in a structured but relaxed way.
