About Ruth
I am both a professional photographer and art teacher interested in a wide range of creative practices. My teaching style is relaxed but focused - I love to get to know my students and their interests outside of the classroom as I love to use this to encourage creativity and inspiration whilst underpinning learning. My approach is all about fostering a positive, engaging and fun environment where creativity can flourish. I believe in the power of exploration and self-expression, so I focus on making each class an enjoyable, hands-on experience.

I tailor my lessons to each student’s needs and by understanding their interests and goals, I can guide them in a way that feels relevant and exciting. I emphasise the importance of creating regularly and experimenting with different techniques and inspiration. I have a positive and nurturing approach to teaching and encourage students to not be afraid of making mistakes as they are an essential part of the learning process! The typical length of my lessons are 1 hour, but I am flexible and can offer shorter/longer lessons depending on students needs. I have experience teaching key stages 2-4 in both a classroom setting and on a 1:1 basis in person - I love to get to know my students and build positive relationships with them to get the most out of their learning.
