About Sofia Xenia
I'm a Greek American artist and Archaeological Illustrator, and have worked for various cultural heritage sites including the Parthenon Restoration Project in Athens, Greece. When I first started drawing as a child, I never would have imagined it could be helpful to a career in preserving culture across millennia. Art has given me so much purpose in life, and I’m passionate about opening the doors to other artists. Many of my students have an initial love of arts but often start our lessons with the statement “I can’t draw”, which I aim to invert. I firmly believe everyone can create art, but that education needs to be tailored to the specific individual perspectives. Art is communication, and it’s my purpose to help others communicate what’s inside them.

I create individualised lesson plans and teach traditional techniques based on each student’s unique perspectives and art style. Just as musicians learn scales to expand their repertoire, I teach observational and technical skills to give students greater freedom of expression, and help unlock individual creative potential. I primarily focus on drawing, painting, and sculpture. I teach all ages and skill levels, from children to adults with varying goals, such as students wanting to learn arts for leisure or in preparation for A level portfolio entry. I have taught undergraduate courses, private lessons and workshops with schools and galleries in the US, Greece and UK. Each lesson is 60 minutes, and course length will depend on each tutee's specific goals.
