About Meralis
I am here to help you and to help you discover the skills you have, refine them, and acquire new ones. I take a transdisciplinary approach to education, this is a fancy way of saying that I leverage and maximize what I already know and do well, and use that as the building blocks to help us learn new things together. As a transdisciplinary educator and scholar, I think a lot about the network of theories, history, and knowledge that make up a particular area of study. I then focus on how to break those down into skills that we can build on and use as professionals, students, and thinkers. I am learning along with you. Yes, I have developed "expert" level skills and knowledge in certain areas of study, but there are always new ways to learn things.

All of my lessons are skills-based.
Before embarking on the learning journey, I take time to assess three things: 1) What do you know? 2) What are you certain you don't know? 3) What knowledge have you discovered that you did not think you knew?
A typical lesson plan includes:
1) Purpose: This mentions "why" we are learning what we are learning.
2) Objectives: We focus on at minimum 3 objectives.
3) Skills: We focus on the skills you need to acquire to meet or exceed those objectives.
4) Reflection: what did you learn? what was your experience? Where do we want to go next?
