My name is Jules, and I am a writing and editing professional with over ten years of experience. I am a graduate of NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where I crafted my own writing-focused major in personal essays and cultural analysis. As a transfer student myself, I have navigated firsthand the many nuances of the undergraduate admissions process, and this experience motivated me to help coach others through the process.
I have extensive experience in developmental and copy editing for academic essays, college admissions, curatorial writing, and professional applications. The key to a strong written piece is crafting a clear, concise, and memorable 'story,' backed by trustworthy sources or examples and articulate critical analysis. I lead with empathy and work to understand each student or applicant holistically, so that I can most effectively elicit their best work.
My overarching goal is to maintain each writer's unique voice while strengthening their skills. Once a student's story, idea, or argument has been defined, we zoom in — sharpening word choice, diversifying syntax, ensuring correct grammar and usage, and cutting extraneous information.
