As a tutor my methods and technique involves acquiring the topic the student is struggling with ahead of time so that when we meet we can maximize our sessions. With prior knowledge of the topic I would have the opportunity to prepare the topic and some examples ahead of time to ensure that our sessions are productive. I also request that the student brings any question they are struggling with from class or just in general. I know that there are different types of learners : visual/audio/kinesthetic, so I pay attention to my student's learning style and tutor them based on there preferred learning style. I utilize models and demos to explain difficult concepts. I am different because I find simple ways to explain difficult concepts, I generally simplify the concepts so that students don't forget and they also understand. Most times I relate the explanation to some real life event or create a song or a catchy phrase. This tutoring style/lesson is generally for college level students and i generally teach with the aid of powerpoint slides.
