About Monika
I am a masters student currently about to finish my degree in Astrophysics. I have always enjoyed science because I'm a curious person and I love to understand how things around us work. More than anything, I love sharing my knowledge with others and I thoroughly enjoy teaching - I believe teachers are some of the most important people in a growing child's world. It is up to them to spark a desire to learn more about the world, and I love having some part in that when I tutor people. Most of the people I tutored are between ages of 16-55, however I also love working with children. I have three years of experience in tutoring and also teaching. However, unofficially I have been helping my peers understand concepts they struggled with since I was 14. I have always found it easy to explain things in an easy way and I really enjoy doing it.

My methodology:
I approach every student using techniques that will benefit them most, based on their learning style. I myself am a visual, auditory and a writing learner, and typically I will use a mixture of these three styles in my lessons. I will explain a concept in an easy-to-understand way, and will then show a simple example of how a specific problem can be solved. After that, I like to tackle some more examples with the student, only helping them where they get stuck rather than taking over. This way, a student can engage their thinking and receive help in those points where they struggle. It also allows me to see which points need to be explained better. Typically one lesson lasts 50-60 minutes.
About my experience:
I have three years of experience of being a one-on-one maths tutor, where I worked at a Maths Support Centre at my university, and helped people of all academic backgrounds to learn maths and tackle whatever problems they had to solve. During my last year at university, I have also taught 1st and 2nd year students Advanced Mathematics and Engineering Mathematics in a classroom of about 20 people. I find it easy to teach and tutor both ways, however I believe that having one-on-one experience always gives the best results.
I can teach people of all ages and levels, and hope to inspire more people to enjoy science and discover the fun in it!
