About Lazarus

I am an award-winning filmmaker and film director with over 10 years of professional experience in the film industry. I hold an MFA in Filmmaking and my professional experience spans feature films, short films, commercials. I have worked on different narrative and commercial projects and developed a strong understanding of both the creative and technical sides of filmmaking.

As a tutor, I bring real-world industry experience, academic training, and a practical, hands-on approach to teaching. My goal is to help students develop their creative voice, strengthen their technical skills, and understand how to bring their ideas to the screen, whether they are beginners, aspiring filmmakers, or experienced creatives looking to refine their craft.

I am passionate about sharing the knowledge I have gained throughout my career and helping each student build the confidence and skills to achieve their filmmaking goals.

My lessons combine practical filmmaking experience with a structured, hands-on approach to learning. As an award-winning film director with an MFA in Filmmaking and over 10 years of professional experience, I teach directing, screenwriting, cinematography, and video editing through real-world techniques used in professional film production.

Teaching Method

I adapt each lesson to the student’s goals, experience, and learning style. My approach emphasizes practical exercises, creative problem-solving, and a clear understanding of the artistic and technical decisions behind every film. Students learn not only how to use filmmaking tools but also how to develop their own visual language and storytelling skills!

A Typical Lesson

Each lesson begins by identifying a specific goal, followed by an explanation of the relevant concepts and techniques. We then apply them through practical exercises, scene analysis, editing demonstrations, or feedback on the student’s own work. Lessons conclude with constructive feedback and clear next steps for improvement.

My experience spans directing short films, feature films, commercials and documentaries. I bring both an artistic perspective and an industry-focused understanding of how to create compelling work efficiently, meet deadlines, and solve production challenges.
