About Reet
Hello! My name is Reet, and I am thrilled to share my passion for art with you!
As an award-winning art tutor, I have consistently achieved the highest marks in my art courses, and my dedication to the craft has earned me recognition from the Mayor of Brampton. I have painted two murals in downtown Brampton and had the incredible opportunity to work alongside the renowned artist Abiola Idowu.
I am currently illustrating a children's book, which is an exciting new venture for me. Although I am pursuing a degree in business, art remains my true passion. I have showcased my work in various art exhibitions, sold my art pieces, and have extensive experience teaching in-person lessons to students from pre-K to middle school.

My Approach as an Art Tutor:
Teaching Methodology and Techniques
My hands-on and interactive teaching approach emphasizes the sketchbook process as the foundation for all creative work. This approach enhances their artistic skills and fosters their creativity and critical thinking. I believe in teaching alongside my students, demonstrating techniques and allowing them to replicate and internalize these methods. My lessons are structured to encourage creativity and critical thinking, guiding students through various mediums such as painting, inking, sculpture, charcoal, oil, and chalk pastel. Additionally, it can teach canvas making and prepping, giving students a comprehensive understanding of the artistic process from start to finish.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
My teaching style mimics the art process in high school and university art courses.
1. Sketchbook Review: We start by reviewing the student's sketchbooks, discussing their homework sketches, and identifying areas for improvement.
2. Homework Assignments: I assign small sketches for homework to keep the creative process ongoing outside of lessons.
3. Technique Demonstration: I demonstrate the technique we will focus on for the lesson, and students practice alongside me.
4. Project Work: Students begin a new project, utilizing the sketchbook process to brainstorm, plan, and design their pieces.
5. Feedback and Refinement: I provide continuous feedback throughout the project, helping students refine their techniques and ideas.
6. Reflection: At the end of each lesson, students reflect on their work, either one-on-one with me or in a group discussion, to articulate what they have learned and identify areas for future improvement.
What Sets Me Apart
My genuine love for learning from my students makes my tutoring unique. Teaching is a reciprocal process where both the teacher and students grow together. This mutual learning experience often leads to creative breakthroughs and a deeper understanding of art for everyone involved. Moreover, my recognition by the Mayor of Brampton and my experience painting murals with renowned artists add a professional edge to my tutoring. Many of my students have gone on to win art competitions and gain recognition for their work, a testament to the effectiveness of my tutoring.

My lessons are not one-size-fits-all. They are meticulously designed for pre-K to middle school students, catering to beginners and intermediate learners. Each lesson is thoughtfully tailored to the student's skill level and interests, ensuring their unique needs are met.
