My teaching method is "ODE": Observe, Deduce, Expand. I teach a basic principle, we practice together until it feels very solid and smooth, and then we expand into something more complex.
I use concepts from my graduate research in neuroscience to enhance learning strategies. For pronunciation, I use le 'triangle vocalique' to help reduce English accent when speaking.
I have several years' experience bringing adults with zero french skills to fluently bilingual within one year of full-time studies, and I use many of the exercises from that time.
A main advantage I have over native French speakers is that I learned it as a second language, and therefore have a deeper understanding of how to consciously learn French as a language, with the specific techniques an English speaker needs to do this. This is something no native French speaker can do because they were born speaking it and so do not know what it's like to not speak it or learn it as a beginner later in life!
